Being a responsible business has always been a part of who we are and what we
do. For us, sustainability and CSR reaches far beyond legal compliance
and
includes
the wellbeing of our employees, how we impact the environment and how
we
can have
a positive effect on the communities around us.
In the last year alone members of the Capgemini community have been involved
in the following initiatives:
Dedicated time to the community by taking on a long-term highly successful pro
bono project with Good Beginnings Australia (GBA) - a not-for-profit
organisation
which aims to provide a good beginning for all Australian children
by
delivering
universal, early-intervention programs to families with young children.
Fundraised and volunteered to provide resources to slum schools in Mumbai, India.
Volunteered to be involved in bush regeneration and tree planting in conjunction
with Volunteers Australia
Capgemini and Sogeti actively participate in the PlaNet Finance association,
aimed at helping the world’s poorest people to fulfill their professional
and
economic potential through a program of local micro-financing.
Taking part in these kinds of initiatives brings personal as well as community
benefits. They allow you to try new things such as leading large teams,
managing
projects, presenting to large groups or simply stepping outside of your
comfort
zone and doing something you wouldn’t normally do.
Capgemini’s CEO, Paul Hermelin, is one of 200 CEOs who have signed up as official
supporters of the UN Global Compact “Caring for Climate” initiative
by making
a commitment to develop corporate strategies and practices to reduce
carbon emissions,
publicly disclose their emissions, and urge governments to make progress. United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Leaders Summit, July 2007
