What does diversity mean to Capgemini?

Diversity  means working with talented individuals from many different backgrounds on creative solutions that add value to our clients businesses. Our presence in over 30 countries with employees speaking more than 100 different languages gives us a wealth of cultural diversity. But for us diversity goes further and embraces many more dimensions such as gender, disability, ethnicity, age, and lifestyle.

Why is diversity important to Capgemini?

We want to have a company that appeals to a wide range of talented individuals. We want to continually enhance our diversity position across the business. To this end, we regularly review our working practices, and train our people to make sure that we all understand behaviors that encourage diversity in our workforce.

Why do we need to focus on diversity?

  • To better understand the societies in which we operate
  • To reflect the diversity within our client base
  • To address the changing demographics and the more global business environment.
  • To have a wider range of thought and ideas - we see differences as a source of innovation and inspiration.

What is Capgemini’s charter on diversity?

We value highly the contribution of all our team members, particularly the diverse backgrounds and experiences that they bring to the company. We recognise that this diversity brings new ideas and perceptions to how we approach our business, which, in return, makes the way we work more efficient. Ultimately, our diversity helps us provide better service to our stakeholders, while reflecting today’s multi-cultural society and workforce.

Capgemini actively supports the principle of diversity in employment and is committed to ensuring (1) that individuals are shown respect and treated fairly, (2) that there is no unlawful discrimination in our working relationships and (3) that the work environment is free of  bullying or harassment.

Capgemini supports the Global Compact United Nations initiative whose 6th principle states in particular that “business should eliminate discrimination in respect of employment and occupation” as well as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights principles.

What does diversity mean in practice in Capgemini?

Diversity means having a sound and fair working environment where team members are encouraged to grow and develop. We achieve diversity by:

  • Making employment selection decisions that are based upon objective, job related criteria.
  • Continuously reviewing and improving our HR practices and procedures, including recruitment, selection, promotion, personal development, compensation, grievance, discipline and dismissal.
  • Working to identify barriers to diversity and taking action to remove any that we find, while respecting local laws and legal requirements on diversity matters.
  • Training and continuously educating line and HR managers, and all other employees involved in people management processes.
  • Communicating the spirit of our diversity policy to everyone within the company.

For us diversity covers a very wide spectrum and our aim is to encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds who are innovative, enthusiastic, culturally aware and committed to delivering a truly collaborative experience to our clients.
